Guidelines for Borrowing, Use, and Liability
- The MAIN Library of Things Collection is available to customers ages 18 and up.
- Borrowers must have current contact information on their library card and a Library account in good standing.
- All kits in the MAIN Library of Things Collection have a loan period of three (3) weeks and will automatically renew up to one (1) time.
- The Kits in the MAIN Library of Things can be reserved or placed on hold for library accounts in good standing at the Livingston County Library.
- The Kits in the MAIN Library of Things will not be loaned or sent in delivery to other Missouri Evergreen libraries.
- Only one (1) kit in the MAIN Library of Things Collection may be checked out on an account at one time.
- All kits from the MAIN Library of Things Collection must be returned to the Livingston County Library Circulation Desk during business hours, NOT the book drops.
- Please do not return these kits to the Youth Library Branch or the book drops located there.
- Kits in the MAIN Library of Things Collection are checked out as a full set, not individual books or items.
- All materials need to be returned with the set before it will be checked in.
- The account holder is responsible for all items included in the kit from the MAIN Library of Things Collection. As such, the borrower will be responsible for replacement costs should any items be returned damaged or missing, and due to neglect or abuse while in the patron’s possession.
1. In kits where a piece is pivotal for the kit to function, the replacement cost of the whole kit is required. The library staff will inform the borrower or parent/guardian of the borrower of any charges to their account.
2. A list of the replacement costs of Things is maintained by the Main Library and is available upon request.
3. The responsibility to protect against loss is with the borrower. - As with any item from the kits from the MAIN Library of Things and all other library materials, use care when handling and packing.
- Return kits from the MAIN Library of Things Collection in the condition it was borrowed: clean and with all parts and components.
