Sharing Shelf Community Donation Program

Helping Fight Food Insecurity—Together

The Lillian DesMarias Youth Library is seeking donations for the Sharing Shelf, a community resource dedicated to helping fight food insecurity right here in our community.

The Sharing Shelf is stocked with food, toiletries, basic necessities, and other essential items that patrons and families may need. With the help of generous community partners, we can continue to better serve our neighbors throughout the year.

How You Can Help

We invite community organizations, churches, businesses, and groups to participate by becoming a Sharing Shelf donor for one month out of the year.

What Participation Looks Like:

  • Collect food, toiletries, necessities, and/or monetary donations from your organization, employees, or members
  • Help stock the Sharing Shelf located behind the Lillian DesMarias Youth Library
  • Donations are encouraged at least once a week, though more frequent contributions are always welcome

Our goal is to partner with 12 or more groups—one for each month—to ensure the Sharing Shelf remains consistently stocked year-round.

Why It Matters

Food insecurity affects families in every community. By supporting the Sharing Shelf, you’re helping ensure that children and families have access to essential items in a safe, welcoming space.

Every donation—big or small—makes a meaningful difference.
